Our process

Our goal is to make the whole process from first contact to final delivery or installation smooth and collaborative.

Design

We start each piece by collaborating with our clients to design a unique, timeless look. In this stage, we determine the materials, colors, and finish of the piece as well as determine installation or delivery needs.

Materials

Each board or slab of wood is unique and we love that! We intentionally pick wood with stunning character and figure that adds to the beauty of each piece. Wood is art, we just make it useful.

Environmental sustainability is a priority. From slabs salvaged from urban trees that need to be cut down to sustainably sourced hardwood boards and steel, we do our part to find and bring new life to these materials.

Construction

Our favorite part. We love the process of turning raw materials into useful art!

We do sweat the small stuff. By using the best joinery methods for wood construction and paying close attention to every detail, you can rest assured that you are getting an heirloom-quality piece. When working with steel, we artfully weld the joints to the highest strength to ensure that your furniture or decor stays standing for generations.

Finish

The last step of every build is to use the right finish for your taste and lifestyle. We prefer to use hard wax oils like Rubio Monocoat as a wood finish because they help accentuate the beauty and figure of the wood and have zero VOCs. This finish comes in 40 different shades that color the wood like a stain and is easy to repair and touch up.

We can also do commercial finishes such as conversion varnish to achieve the perfect surface for more durability.

Guarantee

We ensure that we use the best techniques and finishes when crafting your custom piece and guarantee it from defects in craftsmanship for one year after pickup, delivery, or installation.

Wood moves. We handpick our wood materials for the best quality and character, but wood is a natural, porous material that breathes and moves with the seasons and climate. We craft our pieces to let the wood move so as to not split or crack but we can’t ensure your piece won’t have these issues and you are responsible for making sure it’s in a temperature & humidity controlled environment. To help keep your piece in pristine condition, we recommend cleaning and caring for it as specified by the wood finish used on it. Feel free to contact us for further care instructions and tips.

Life happens. If you experience issues due to spills, standing water, improper climate control or other damage not due to a defect, we are happy to help repair or refinish the piece at a low cost.
